After a battle with the economy and an em-pass with bakers over benefits and wage cuts, the company has made the decree that it must begin selling off assets. The bakers’ union has waged a national strike to protest the perceived draconian wage and benefit cuts in addition to pension concessions made some 8 years ago. The company just cannot endure any longer under the national strike and has told it’s employees and contractors that assets will begin to be sold off. This economic crisis, though is said to be recovering :-/, is taking it’s toll on Americana and some of it’s deep rooted companies… It is rather sad to see this cultural icon go. Many childhood memories are certainly surrounded around the wonder of that creamy center and all that is a Twinkie…
